Ferdinand stepped out into the sunny, fall day. He tilted his head back, looking up at the sky, a small smile playing on his lips. He was new to the school, but he wasn't too worried. Most of the kids had been pretty friendly so far. He was finally starting to feel like he fit in. It didn't matter here, everyone was pretty much a freak.
The boy raised a hand, fingers trailing over the scar that started at the corner of his lips and curled up his cheek. It was still rather fresh and discoloured. He had gotten it in a car crash the year before, and he liked it. He thought it made him look badass.
The wind caught some of his dark hair and he lifted his hand from his scar to brush the unruly strands out of his face. "Heute ist ein guter tag..." He muttered in German under his breath. It was going to be a good day, he could already feel it in his bones. He walked over to a bench along the side of the courtyard and plopped himself down. Ferdi leaned back and looked up at the clouds, simply happy to be alive.

"That's a foreign language, is it German?" Octavia asked as she sat next to Ferdinand. Her Scottish accent wasn't as strong as it had been a couple of years ago when the family had been living in Scotland but it was still a significant part of her voice. "I've heard it's a beautiful place there but I've never visited it before," she continued idly, leaning back and making herself comfortable.
Along with the great multitude of wristbands, Octavia was wearing two long necklaces, her hair straightened and gathered up in a horsetail. Add a beaded top, a flowy skirt and flip flops to the equation and that basically summed up her apparel today. Along with her bizarre choice of clothing, she had a wreath of field daisies on her head and a big smile on her face. She had clearly been out on the fields but since no one was there, Octavia had come back and found the first person to talk to - and that so happened to be Ferdinand.

"Ja!" He chipped happily, craning his neck back from the clouds to look at her. "Yes, I mean." He added, more as an after thought, he really needed to work on strictly speaking English. "It means today is going to be a gute day." Ferdinand lifted a hand to brush the hair out of his eyes, his bangs were getting just a touch too long.
"And it has been so far."
He reached out a hand, touching one of a the daisies in her hair. "I like flowers." He said simply, struggling to find the right English word for the reason. "Zhey are..." He waved a hand in a circle. "How do you call it?" He muttered. "Wunderschon..."
"Ah! Beautiful! Zat is ze vord I look for." He clapped his hands together, happy that he had found the word. "Oh, I'm Ferdinand, but a lot of friend call me Donar." He grinned a little mischievously and held out a hand crackling with a very small electric shock, no more than a small static shock.
