A brand new year. Garrett rejoiced in the presence of change. He clenched a handful of papers in one hand while clinging to the massive duffle bag slung over his shoulder with the other. As he waddled down the hallway, over cumbersome with all the belongings he had in his last dorm room, his eyes scanned his new schedule. A whole slew of new classes to partake in. His pace quickened with excitement. He needed to get to his new dorm room and meet his new roommate.
Roommates. Garrett always had mixed feelings about meeting new roommates. He had quite a bit of energy to say the least and more often than not people were put off by all his noise. He told himself it would be fine over and over again, but as he reached the door to room 507 his mind was swimming with anticipation.
He drew in a sharp breath and exhaled slowly before opening the door. "Hello!"

Will slid the guitar case beneath his bed, its side snug against his empty suitcase, then straightened up and smoothed down the covers on the bed. He hadn't had a roommate for the first few weeks of the year, and he'd let himself get sloppy. His things were always organized to an extent, but how much room that organization took was another matter. A few books and magazines were all he'd left on the empty bed; he had to keep the sheets clean, just in case. The rest of the room, though, was his to use as he pleased.
They'd given him a week's notice that he would have a roommate, but he'd saved the last few things for a day-of cleaning. He used his guitar too much to store it away, and it took him a bit longer to reorganize his clothing than he might have liked. But he was efficient enough, and finally it was done. He sat back on his bed and waited.
It wasn't long before the door creaked open. He shut the book and put it on the bedside table. "Hi. You're my roommate, then?"
