Anthony tucked his hands into the pockets on his khaki cargo pants as he walked down the path to the forest. He wasn't even under tree cover before he was pounced on. As he laid on the ground, he laughed and reached up.
"Stop! Nikita. No more licking. I'm glad to see you too, but stop!" The dog stopped licking, and cocked her head to the side slightly. Anthony laughed at how comical she looked before climbing to his feet again with a smile. Nikita whined and he patted her on the head, and scratched her behind the ears.
"I know. I'm sorry I haven't been out to see you in a while. And I know I left you some food, but you had to fend for yourself a bit too, didn't you? I'm sorry, but I can't bring you more food. Besides, I know you know how to hunt. And I'm not allowed pets inside the Academy." She licked his hand.
"Yeah, I miss you too Nikita. I'm sorry I can't come see you more often. But I do have food." He took his backpack off and took the medium sized bag of dog food out, putting it in a nearby stump.
"Only eat that when you can't find animals to eat, okay?"
