Constance gave a wide grin as Jodie talked to her about her writing, "Do you think I could read some of your writing?" She asked hopefully. "I'd love to be able to write, but when I try, it never comes out the way I want it, and I doesn't turn out right." Constance told Jodie, shuffling slightly as she stood. "I didn't see many school books when I walked past it earlier." She explained with a small smile, the bookcase closest to where she had been standing had a few fairy tales and fictional stories.
She listened to Jodie when she spoke as she spoke about her powers, "I suppose so." Constance gave a gentle laugh, "I can lift light objects with the air if I really concentrate." she stated, lifting things with the air was really the only thing she could do with her powers. Constance gave a goofy laugh and a large smile when she was told about what Jodie did in the cafeteria.
"Oh... Sorry." She said with an awkward smile when Jodie that she didn't really let people her her voice. Carrie Underwood, the name was very familiar, she was pretty sure she had an album or two of hers on her iPod. Constance didn't really get awkward around compliments, though when she was complimented she didn't believe the person who had given the compliment, her whole life she had been complimented almost daily, her family wanted to make sure she never felt bad about the way she looked of the things she did, so much so that she was almost complimented on everything, she used to dress up like an idiot hoping that nobody would say anything, but both her mother and father told her she looked lovely, which is why she never believed anyone when she was complimented.
"I'll listen to any music really." Constance replied, "Except for..." She paused thinking of the name of the music she was trying to refer to. "Rap. Except for rap and things like that." She explained, moving her hands behind her head, and pulling the loop of her bun into a pony tail, letting her blue ends fall loose. She watched as Jodie walked over to pick up a leather briefcase, Another smile spread across her lips when Jodie told her about pranking her a little if she didn't sing along. "You don't want to hear my singing voice anyway." She laughed softly when Jodie told her she was kidding, her voice wasn't actually too bad, it was just what people considered to be average.

Jodie heard Constance ask if she could read some of her writing and Jodie froze up a little bit. It was mostly online anyways, except for her poems and song lyrics. Those were both in notebooks that rarely saw the light of day. Jodie knew the meter was off in them, but couldn't ever think of fixing them. They were poems, and they were just like how she wanted them. Her poems were personal, and other people wouldn't appreciate them like she did. But how to refer someone to a website and her account online? She would appreciate feedback. It always helped her.
"Sure, I don't mind. I've posted all of my stories online. It's on a site called fanfiction.net. I'm Exmoorpony. My username." She smiled slightly. When Constance said about lifting light objects, she grinned.
"That's awesome." Then when she apologized, Jodie shook her head.
"It's fine. Now that we're friends, it's alright." Any music, huh? Except rap. Well she wasn't big on rap either. Nickelback, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Cobra Starship. When she put down her singing voice, Jodie shook her head.
"Nope. You're not getting away with it that easily. I meant I was kidding about the prank. Not about the singing. Your voice can't be that bad, and even if it is, I promise I won't so much as wince. You can't be any worse than my trainer. She had no tune whatsoever."
ooc: that's right. I did just unabashedly advertise my fanfiction account XD I didn't know what else to do!

Constance noticed Jodie freeze up when she had asked if she could read some of what she had written, and straight away regretted even asking her, she supposed she wouldn't really like people reading the few things she had written, so why would Jodie? She should have thought about it first. But she eased up when Jodie told her she didn't mind, then she told her that her stories were all posted online, which meant that now she would actually have to figure out how to use her laptop other than typing in a word document, it shouldn't be too hard, maybe she could ask her roommate when she met her, but she gave a quick nod and rummaged in her smallest bag which hung off of her shoulder, and closed her fingers around her small notebook, flipped to a fresh page and pulled out a pen from her jean pocket. She jotted down in her usual elegant handwriting the website she'd be told and Jodie's username after she had mentioned to her what they were. "Thank you." Constance told her, sliding both the notebook and pen into the pocket of her jacket with a smile.
"Thank you." She said again when Jodie said that her lifting objects was, as Jodie had put it, awesome. But she moved nervously from one foot to the next after she'd apologized and Jodie had told her that It's fine. But her nervous moving settled quite quickly when Jodie mentioned that it was alright now that they were friends.
Constance let loose a small giggle when she was told she wasn't getting away with it. At least she wasn't going to prank her, there was that, which eased her thoughts a little, but Jodie still wanted her to sing along, to the music. "What if I don't know the words?" She asked hopefully with a laugh, suppressing a smile at the fact that Jodie's trainer had no tune whatsoever.

Jodie saw Constance whip out the notebook and pen and jot down the details. Then she thanked Jodie and she smiled.
"Feedback's always appreciated. Especially from people who read a lot." When she heard the next thank you about the compliment Jodie had given her, Jodie wondered about this. She was getting thanked an awful lot in this conversation. She heard Constance's giggle and words and she shook her finger in a 'tsk tsk' motion.
"If you don't know the words, by all means make them up as you go. Just because you're not good at writing doesn't mean you don't know how to make up lyrics. The goofier the better. And besides, you have no excuse. I told you. See if there's anything in the file you like. I collect music proudly and like having a huge collection. There's bound to be something."

Constance smiled, looking forward to reading Jodie's stories when she had the chance to. She nodded when Jodie said that feedback is always appreciated.
Constance gave another light giggle as Jodie shook her finger at her. She'd written music many times before, she had a notebook filled with music she'd had a go at writing, there were only about five complete songs in it, and only three were any proper good. Her music writing had gotten better over time, but she'd never added lyrics to go along with the music. Thinking about this made her wonder, if her and Jodie ever became better friends, maybe at some point she could ask Jodie to help her with lyrics to go with her wordless songs, maybe. "Okay then." She gave a warm, goofy smile, she could happily make up words, but they would not make any sense whatsoever. She gave a small nod when Jodie told her to look through the file, but she didn't move, not sure if Jodie meant for her to look through it now or later on, not wanting to seem rude.

She extended her file of CDs to Constance.
"Have a look through. See if there's any you know the words to. I can always make lyrics up for 'em instead. That's one of the things I write, although I'm not very serious about it. Unlike my stories, I'm never sure if the lyrics are good or not." Jodie's shy smile dominated at that moment. She didn't know what to say. Just being quiet and watching her new friend was good enough for her. Jodie could be almost unbearably noisy sometimes, but sometimes she just had times when silence was something she was definitely cool with. If there was nothing to say, then why fill the silence with endless noise? That was definitely a skill she had learned from her assassin training. If you filled every pause with talk, there'd be no time to hear if someone was sneaking up on you. Plus, your senses would dull. Assassins and informants who talked every possible moment really didn't last very long, Jodie imagined. She did a pirouette.
"You found something? Put it in the machine if you have. And if the teachers get upset, so be it. I'll tell them it was totally my idea and they aren't to put any punishment towards you. Because it was totally my idea, plus I'm already seen as a major trouble-maker. For you, your reputation would get worse. For me, that's not such a bad thing." Jodie grinned.

She gave a small nod and a smile and took the file as Jodie held it out to her, Constance slid her two bags down her arm and onto the floor next to her suitcase allowing her to open the case and peer into it, there was quite a lot of music in there. the case and peer into it, there was quite a lot of music in there. Both Nickelback and Taylor Swift she saw first and knew, Nickelback being her favourite of the two. She pulled out the album 'All the Right Reasons'. This was the album she knew the words to most songs on, she heard Jodie say that she wrote lyrics, she grinned slightly, looking up to her with the album in her hands. "You write lyrics?" She asked softly, "That's amazing." Constance laughed softly, she wouldn't ask about her helping with lyrics for her music just yet, she had only just met Jodie and wasn't too comfortable with showing anybody her music, nobody, not even her auntie, the person she trusted more than anybody, had seen inside her music notebook.
Constance's eyes widened as Jodie pirouetted, "Do you do ballet?" She asked, with a confused frown, Constance had been taught a little by her auntie when she saw her, her auntie new many different dance types, she was the most famous stage actress in Britain after all and her voice was absolutely stunning. She nodded as Jodie told her to put the music in the machine, and she moved over to it and placed the CD in, pausing it quickly to ask a question, "Should I pick a song?" She inquired, "Or just let the album play?" She heard Jodie mention that she'd tell teachers that it was her idea, "No need." Constance grinned, "It would mostly be my fault for going along with you." She chuckled, "Not that I have any problem with that." She told her, she enjoyed the fact that Jodie was a trouble-maker. She'd never, not even once in her life, met someone who played pranks or was any kind of a trouble-maker.

Jodie watched as Constance took out All the Right Reasons and she smiled. Then when she said that writing lyrics was amazing, Jodie blushed and ducked her head a bit.
"I don't think I'm very good at it. But thank you anyways." When Constance asked if Jodie did ballet, Jodie laughed and shook her head.
"I'm just goofing off. My sister took a bit of ballet. My mum thought it would help her seem more innocent and cultured in some of her missions. And once in a while, Jeanne would practice with me. Claimed it was easier to perform with someone else. So I picked up a couple things. I'm just happy and being goofy though." She grinned. When Constance asked if she should pick a song or just let the album play, Jodie thought a moment.
"All the Right Reasons...if you don't mind, my favourite song on that album is totally Photograph. Or maybe it ties with Rockstar. They're both hilarious." She smiled and walked over, clicking to the right track number.
"Look at this photograph. Everytime I do it makes me laugh. How did our eyes get so red and what the hell is on Joey's head? And this is where I grew up. I thought the present would've fixed it up. I never knew that we went without. The second floor is hard for sneaking out." She always loved that line about sneaking out. Jodie grinned and made a gesture to Constance that, to her, would've clearly said 'take it away maestro'. She didn't know whether the other girl would get it though.

She gave a small laugh when Jodie told her she was just goofing off. "You have a sister?" Constance asked, smiling, she had one too once. "That's wonderful." She said, looking up at Jodie happily. Constance laughed when Jodie said she was happy and being goofy, she wished she could relate. She'd only been at the school an hour or so, and she was already happier than she had been for the last five years at home, but that wasn't really saying much.
She had never really thought that there were other people her age with powers, she'd only known of the people within her family, only the females in the family had powers, and they were all elemental powers. Actually, there only seemed to be females in her blood family on her mother's side, the only males were the ones that had married the females, everyone in the family had been completely shocked when her elder brother was born, that was what she'd been told anyway.
Constance waited by the boom box as Jodie thought about what she had asked, "I don't mind at all." She grinned when Jodie said Photograph was her favourite song on the album, it was her's too. "It would have been the song I would have chosen." She added softly as Jodie moved over to where she was to change to the right track. She loved the song Rockstar also, but Photograph had always been one of her absolute favourites.
She stood near Jodie as she sang the first two verses of Photograph as it began to play, she giggled lightly as Jodie made a gesture seeming to want her to continue with the song, she nodded quickly and began to sing the next two verses which led up to the chorus. "And this is where I went to school, most of the time had better things to do, criminal record says I broke in twice, I must have done it half a dozen times. I wonder if it's too late, should I go back and try to graduate? Life's better now than it was back then, If I was them I wouldn't let me in." Constance frowned very slightly as she sang, her voice wasn't at all bad, it was completely average, it definitely wasn't as good as Jodie's. The voice in her head sounded terrible when she sang, even if the voice that actually came out her mouth wasn't anything like how she heard it. When she'd finished her two verses she grinned at Jodie awkwardly, as if apologising for her singing, nodding to her, asking for her to continue.

"Yeah, I have a sister. I don't see her too often now though. She's busy, plus I'm on the run. If I made contact with her, I'd have to go back to my old life. Her allegiance is to family. I'm only one person." She sighed and shrugged. She didn't even know if she'd be able to see her sister again without incurring the wrath of the families.
"Every memory I'm lookin' out the back door. I have a photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. It's hard to say it, time to say it. Good-bye, good-bye. Every memory I'm walkin' out the front door, I found the photo of the present I was looking for. It's hard to say it, time to say it. Good-bye, good-bye. Good-bye. Remember the old arcade? Blew every dollar that we ever made. The cops hated us hanging out. They say someone went and burned it down." It was in the middle of a verse, but she felt like she had sung too much. Constance had an awesome voice too, after all. It was a graceful sort of voice. At least that's how it sounded to Jodie. She smiled at Constance, nodding at her, Jodie's eyes sparkling with the happiness. Of course, she was glowing slightly too. But the sparkle in her eyes was back after a bit of an absence.

She gave a gentle smile when Jodie spoke about her sister, but said nothing more about siblings, not wanting to really bring up family.
Constance searched her head for lyrics as Jodie gestured for her to continue the song, there were so many in there. She'd much rather listen to Jodie's singing, it was lovely, but she continued the song with a small smile, "We used to listen to the radio, and sing along with every song we know. we said some day we'd find out how it feels, to sing to more than just the steering wheel." She gave a tiny pause as she moved into the next verse, "Kim's the first girl I kissed, I was so nervous that I nearly missed. She's had a couple of kids since then, I haven't seen her since god knows when." It was at this point Constance got a little more into the song as she sung one more verse, "Every memory of looking out the back door, I had a photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. It's hard to say it, time to say it." Goodbye, goodbye..." She finished and grinned at Jodie, hoping she would continue the song.

"Every memory I'm walkin' out the front door, I found the photo of the present I was looking for. It's hard to say it, time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye." She was really into the song, headbanging her hair at the chorus. Why not? She had a friend here. And friends weren't people you'd be concerned about doing this around, right? So no problem. Jodie had a remarkably easy time of getting past things that scared or embarrassed her. If she held onto the embarrassment, it would easily stay. But otherwise, not so much. She continued singing into the next part of the song.
"I miss that time, I miss the faces. You can't erase, you can't replace it. I miss it now. I can't believe it. So hard to stay. Too hard to leave it. If I could relive those days, I know the one thing that would never change." She went over the chorus one more time with a large grin on her face, hoping that maybe Constance would join in. Maybe, possibly.
"Look at this photograph. Everytime I do it makes me laugh. Everytime I do it makes me..." Her voice drifted off to end the song and she looked at her hand. It was glowing like crazy. And really, why wouldn't it be? She had a frien-oops. She had clapped for Constance's singing and her bravery, but she was tuned into her powers. The lights in the gymnasium shut off. Now she could really see herself glowing. In fact, it was pitch black, but because of her light she could actually see Constance pretty well. But the lights going out the gym? Kinda a problem. She groaned.
"Aw crap. I gotta learn to watch myself. Lemme try somethin'." She snapped her fingers and they came back on after flickering for a minute. Jodie breathed a sigh of relief. Well at least she could get them back on. She smiled.

Watching Jodie headbang her hair made her want to join in, but it wasn't really the sort of thing she tended to do. She adored Jodie's singing voice, she could probably listen to it all day of she wanted to. Constance grinned as Jodie did, she loved this song, and didn't think Jodie would mind when she began to sing the last verse of the chorus along with her friend, she felt elated as they sang together but she stopped at the end of the chorus as Jodie's voice drifted off with the last verse of the song.
The other girl was glowing as Constance hurried over and pressed stop on the boom box, before it moved onto the next song. She returned to Jodie as she began to clap, she let out a gentle giggle, "You should be clapping for your-" She stopped just before the end of her sentence because the lights had turned off suddenly. Her eyes moved up into the pitch black of the room, then returned to Jodie, who was quite obviously glowing now, being the only light source in the room at that moment. She gave a small laugh, Jodie's powers were brilliant.
She watched as Jodie snapped her fingers together and the lights flickered on above them. "Your powers are amazing." She told her with a grin, somehow she couldn't help but compliment the other girl, there were so many things about her that she found fascinating.

Jodie heard the laugh and smiled slightly. It was annoying that her powers had done this, and turned out the lights. But if it made her new friend laugh, it seemed all that more okay to her. When she heard the other girl say that her powers were amazing, she chuckled, blushing slightly as she rubbed the back of her neck. She glowed gently with the happiness though.
"Uh...thanks. That's the second time I've shut the lights off accidentally. Sometime I might just need you to vouch for that. I hardly think they'd believe my word after all the stuff I've pulled." She had been thinking about what she'd been doing, questioning if it was really all that much fun or if she was just really bored.
"I bet your powers are cool too though. And you can control them at least. Sure, mine are big and flashy. Like, literally flashy. But they act up at the times I least expect it. At least you can predict when your powers are gonna...short out, or whatever. I never know what they're going to do." She shrugged.

Constance let out another small laugh as Jodie told her it was the second time she'd accidentally shut off the lights. She gave a gentle nod "I will vouch for you." She told Jodie, grinning happily, Jodie could turn off light in rooms, glow, dent lights with beams and probably do many other things, she wished that she had powers as thrilling as that. What was the last thing she'd done with her powers? Turned the page of a book.
She chuckled casually as Jodie bet her powers were cool too. "Thank you, and I can't really control them, they're just pretty useless." Constance explained, smiling up at Jodie, who was a few inches taller than her. "When I'm really angry or annoyed I honestly blow people away." She told Jodie, replying to her power pun with one of her own. "And when I'm terrified I feel air rushing past me, but no one else seems to feel it." Constance explained after she'd told her about her powers acting up. "The only reason my powers don't seem to act up is because the rest of the time they are utterly and completely useless."
